Competency database

Executive Coaching Centre

Extensive coompetency database

The Executive Coaching Centre has a comprehensive database with some 200 competencies for management and line roles. The competences each have four levels of behavioural descriptors - understanding, developing, mastery, developing others. The competencies can be downloaded in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect .

The Competencies Engine, our database of competencies, that covers four layers of management, from senior management to professionals who have no management responsibility. There are competencies for the organisation as a whole (Core Competencies) plus nine functional areas.

The functional areas are:

  • Administration
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Human resources
  • Information technology/systems
  • Sales and marketing
  • Operations
  • Research and development
  • Customer service

The database has been produced in Microsoft Word to allow material to be easily 'cut and paste' into other documents. The database has a system of hyperlinks to allow you to move quickly around the document.

The competencies are designed to be a convenient starting point for human resource and line managers wanting to develop a competency map for any organisation. It is important that any final competencies are specifically tailored to meet the need of your unique organisation and that you check the utility of them with jobholders and their managers.

By way of example the database contains the following Core Competencies:

  • Living the values
  • Ethics
  • Service orientation
  • Collaborative work relationships
  • Communication
  • Time management
  • Energy

Comments from a coaching client

"I just wanted to be in touch to thank you again for your coaching, support and advice last year. My move is the best career decision I have ever made. Much credit to you, and many thanks. Some stories do have happy endings, and you may enter me into the 'successful outcome' column."
