Mark has spent the majority of his career in the Financial Services industry where he has gained extensive leadership and general management experience throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific Region.

Following 10 years of career development in branch and state management roles for various Bank owned financial service subsidiaries after initially joining Australian Guarantee Corporation in 1976, Mark was recruited in 1985 to join Wang Labs, then the worlds 3rd largest computer company.

Mark established Wang Financial Services in Australia for Wang Laboratories and successfully grew the company until it was acquired by GE Capital Corporation in 1989 as part of a global acquisition of Wang Lab's US$1+ billion international computer leasing business.

Appointed Managing Director of GE Capital Australia Limited, he significantly diversified and grew the business positioning it as a leading commercial equipment financing company in Australia.

GE Capital, a wholly owned division of GE (US), is known for it's aggressive appetite for growth and profitability. GE is world-renowned for it's executive development and staff training programs, and GE's best practices have been adopted by many of today's leading global corporations.

Mark's management strengths and leadership skills, were quickly recognised by GE. In 1991 he established GE Capital NZ Ltd, and in 1993 became Managing Director, GE Capital Commercial Equipment Financing, South East Asia,encompassing his responsibilities for Australia and New Zealand. In early 1994 he relocated from Sydney to Singapore.

Within eighteen months he achieved his mandate to establish GE Capital business platforms in Singapore, Indonesia,Thailand,and Malaysia by a combination of of acquisitions, joint ventures and green field start up's, whichever was deemed most appropriate for each specific market, while overseeing the continued growth of GE Capital Australia Limited.

His successful execution of GE Capital's expansion into South East Asia, required considerable cultural sensitivity in market entry negotiations and subsequently in the introduction and implementation of;

  • Integration and orientation programs
  • Change management programs
  • Executive coaching and mentoring programs and
  • Individual executive performance development programs

As a result of Mark's success in SE Asia he was appointed President and CEO of GE Capital Finance Ltd, a Restricted License Bank in Hong Kong. His mandate was to rebuild the management team, stabilise the Bank and rebuild it into a business encompassing the GE corporate culture, personnel capability and infrastructure to serve as GE Capital's platform for eventual expansion into China. Within eighteen months the Bank was given a "AA" rating by the major rating agencies.

Mark left GE Capital at the end of 1997 in order to stay in Hong Kong where he co-founded and established a successful Executive Search Firm servicing Global 100 IT, Telecom's, Financial Services and Media clients in Asia and Japan.
